My Ethos
My goal is to make mathematics accessible, understandable, and empowering for every student. I believe that clarity builds confidence, and confidence unlocks potential. Through patient guidance, clear explanations, and a focus on problem-solving, I help students not only master the material but also develop the skills to think critically, work independently, and approach challenges with curiosity and determination.
What sets me apart from other tutors is that I have gained so much experience in tutoring that I am able to tailor my session to the student and find the one path of many which the student understands the best.
Who am I?
I attended the University of Oregon and received my Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics in 2023. I then received my Master’s of Arts in Mathematics from California State University, Fullerton in 2025. Most recently, I have begun my PhD in Mathematics in August 2025 at Claremont Graduate University where I will be focusing on Partitions in Number Theory.
While I had always helped my peers with math as I was progressing through school, I received my first tutoring job at the University of Oregon where I tutored a variety college level math ranging from Liberal Arts Math to College Algebra to Calculus and Linear Algebra. I worked there up until I graduated, then moved to California for my degree at CSUF and tutored at Fullerton College where my knowledge base expanded to tutoring those same courses as well as content such as Discrete Math, Differential Equations, Statistics, and Multivariable Calculus.
In 2024, I began my teaching career at CSUF as a Teaching Associate where I performed the roles a professor would, aside from creating my own midterm and final exams as well as participating in the administration. I could only be in that role until I graduated because it was only for current graduate students, but luckily I was rehired at CSUF to begin as a Part-time Lecturer. I will begin that job in the Fall of 2025 to teach Calculus, where I will be free to teach in my own way.
At the same time that I start teaching at CSUF, I am also going to be continuing my education at CGU for my PhD, which I am very excited for. With all of this experience in teaching and in different math courses, I am highly qualified to tutor students in all stages of their academic career and would love to help anyone that comes across me and my services online.
Teaching Philosophy
As a college mathematics educator, my teaching philosophy centers on making math accessible, engaging, and empowering for all my students. I believe that every student can succeed in math with the right support, structure, and encouragement, and I strive to create a classroom environment that reflects that belief. My experiences as a teaching associate last year and aa tutor for the past four years have shaped my approach to instruction, emphasizing both the intellectual and emotional aspects of learning.
In my teaching, I aim to balance clear and structured content delivery with opportunities for student exploration and active learning. I use a variety of instructional strategies such as guided discovery, collaborative problem solving, and real world applications to help students see math not just as a set of procedures but as a valuable tool for reasoning and communication. I also place strong emphasis on helping students reflect on how they learn, not just what they learn. This builds mathematical confidence and encourages a mindset focused on growth, which is especially important for students who may have experienced challenges or anxiety related to math in the past.
My work as a tutor has given me valuable insight into the emotional and motivational sides of learning. I have seen how students’ beliefs about their abilities can either hold them back or unlock their potential. Because of this, I prioritize building strong relationships with students, showing patience, and creating an environment where questions are welcomed and mistakes are viewed as natural parts of the learning process. These interpersonal skills also help me respond thoughtfully to classroom dynamics by adjusting my pacing, using regular check-ins for understanding, and offering targeted support based on student needs.
I am committed to teaching in a way that respects and supports the diverse backgrounds, goals, and learning styles found in a community college setting. Whether a student is preparing to transfer, entering a career focused program, or returning to education after time away, I see my role as helping them connect with mathematics in ways that feel meaningful and relevant. Teaching math is not just about delivering content; it is about helping students develop the confidence and skills to think critically, solve problems, and persist through challenges in their academic journey and beyond.
